Ashwarya Rai to
visit Pakistan
By Shahzad Raza

Former Miss World Ashwarya Rai will visit Pakistan next month as Goodwill Ambassador to raise support for newly launched Pink Ribbon Campaign.

The pink ribbon is an international symbol of support for breast cancer awareness for more than ten years. Every year in October, citizens are urged to wear pink ribbons in honor of women who are now courageously fighting the battle with breast cancer. The pink ribbon is an emblem of hope for breast cancer sufferers and for everyone working to fight this curable disease.
Ashwarya has shown deep concern about the growing rate of breast cancer in Pakistan and lack of awareness of the fatal disease in this part of the world. She is also a great supporter of people to people contact between India and Pakistan.
Another international celebrity who has shown her support for the breast cancer awareness campaign in Pakistan is British Prime Minister Tony Blair's wife Mrs. Cherie Blair.
In her special message of support Mrs. Cherie Blair has said "Having lost a very dear aunt to breast cancer, I am determined to help keep women talking about the signs, how to spot them and what to do if they find a breast change. That is one of the reasons why, for the last seven years, I've been Patron of Breast Cancer Care, the organization that has been listening and talking to people about breast cancer for over 30 years. I'm lucky to be able to help spread a vital message that I'm passionate about -- that all women, regardless of age or background, need to know their own bodies; and should feel able to talk to their doctor should they find a change in their breast that's unusual for them. I send my best wishes and support you in your efforts to raise awareness of breast cancer".
