Jehadi Comeback; Starts business again
By M.Amir Rana

After a small break, the defunct Jehadi organisations have started their business again. Jehadi banners, wall checking and multi-color posters can be seen everywhere in the city. Jehadi fund boxes appear in markets and other public places. The Jehadi media products from which some of these were banned in January 2002 comes in markets with alternative names. Their offices are start working, all over the country.

The government of Pakistan had ordered the authorities to ensure, not to let any Jehadi group to operate from anywhere in Pakistan. This decision was taken after the 13 January 2002's president Musharraf speech, in which he announced the ban on five Jehadi and sectarian outfits. Former federal intieres minister Moeenudin Hyder had. Launched the aggressive campaign against Jehadi groups and their all activities were banned in the country. Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and Maulana Masood Azhar were detained along with hundreds Mujahideen and sealed this offices in the most parts of the country. The Jehadi groups went underground or shifted their networks in Azad Kashmir, where these groups are openly operating and Azad Kashmir
government did not put a hard hand on them.

The crackdown against Jehad groups was continued till 2002, in Pakistan. It was astonishing during campaign against Jehadi groups, that most of the Jehadi leaders except Maulana Azhar and Hafiz Saeed were freely moving in the country, including Harkatul Mujahideen Chief Maulana Fazal-Ul-Rehman Kahlil, who was went Afghanistan with his 100 warriors in November 2002, for fighting against America. Most of the arrested Mujahideen were only the workers and the law Inforcement agencies did not successes in checking the important leadership of the Jehadi groups. Later these arrested Mujahideen were freed after investigation.

It was also surprising the activities of the most Jehadi groups including
defunct sectarian organisations, were continued their business in the
small cities and towns all over the country. Their offices were openly operating
specially Hizbul Mujahideen, Al-Badar, Harkatul Mujahideen, Tehrik ul Mujahideen and Al Raseed Trust. Somehow, Jehadi groups were not so active and their activities were not seen at large scale, until, August 2002. On the occasion of Ramzan and Eidul Fitar, most of the Jehadi groups lunched found rasing campaigns, and setup their camps near the important civic centers. Jamaat ud Dawa was on the top and its camps were established all over the country. Now Jehadi activities are on full swim once again and after the release of Hafiz Saeed, Maulana Masood Azhar and Maulana Azam Tariq the Jehadi starts their works on previous lines.

Defunct Jaish-e-Muhammad changes it name as Tehrik Khudam-u-Din, and still working on militant lines in the country. The Jehadi media products once again easily available on news stands, forthrightly "Jaish-e-Muhammad" is converted into the weekly "Shamseer" and Laskar-e-Taiba's organ weekly "Jehad Times" is available, with the name of Ghazva Times. With it same tone and aggression.

Jehadi meetings and programmers are regularly arranging in their seminaries and Mosques, and mainstream media is covering their activities. Now Jehadi groups are busy in arranging the hides' collection campaigns, on the incoming Eid-ul-Azha. According to a Jamaat ul Dawa's sources, their target on Eid ul Azha is to collect around 2 crore rupees, and we will achieve this target very easily, because last year, besides the all governments strict action, we were collect 1 core 20 laces rupees in the shape of donations and hides."
