A federal sensitive agency has sent a report with conclusive
evidence of malpractices committed by three Punjab ministers
and two administrative secretaries to Punjab Chief Minister
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi for an appropriate action against
them under the law.
Reliable sources confided to Weekly Independent that
the federal agency swung into action with the approval
of a high authority of the country.
According to details, consistent reports about these
high-ups' wrongdoings along with some evidence continued
to pour in the office of the high authority who first
ordered a discreet investigation in the light of the
reports received by him. When a substantial portion
of the allegations were found to be correct, a full-fledged
probe was initiated against the provincial ministers
and two administrative secretaries, who are in charge
of important departments in the Punjab government.
A team of four officers, headed by a grade-20 officer
of the sensitive agency were assigned the job of digging
deep and investigate each case involving all five persons
holding important positions.
Two of these gentlemen had covered their tracks with
sophistication and even tried to destroy some documents
that could have misdirected the investigations or involved
other innocent people for the sins committed by them.
It was further learnt that since the inquiry was being
conducted in a discreet manner, it became extremely
difficult to examine some of the incriminating record
that was kept in the personal custody of those ultimately
found guilty.
The inquiry team continued to dig into tons of evidence
that was collected by them and were finally able to
pinpoint with impeccable accuracy the wrongdoings of
the gentlemen concerned.
After nearly six months of hard work, they completed
their findings which, if released, could create embarrassment
for the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid government in Punjab
and cause a serious setback to Chief Minister Pervaiz
Elahi.
The main reason for this setback could be the close
association of the chief minister with at least two
of the ministers involved, one of whom was elevated
to the cabinet position in spite of an adverse report
against him.
Weekly Independent has also learnt that in case the
chief minister failed to take action against these five
persons, the federal government might be forced to follow
other options that remain available to it.
Sources said the federal authorities were also deliberating
on delegating certain powers to the provincial governors,
who would then be able to persuade the provincial governments
to act on the advice of the federal government, especially
in the cases where there was a danger of good governance
being defeated by some unscrupulous persons or serious
cases of corruption and malpractices were detected and
reported to the provincial governments.
The federal government has also decided that after the
government and MMA deal is finalised and the National
Assembly begins to function properly, they would devote
their energies to the seven-point agenda that incorporates
not only the provision of good governance but also a
clean government for the people of Pakistan.
It was also learnt that cases of two more provincial
ministers and a powerful secretary were in the pipeline
and it was just a matter of time when the wrongdoings
including a serious charge of forgery were established
against them.
