Police in action to improve
law and order
|
The local police have set up pickets throughout the City
to check the increasing incidents of crime, especially vehicle-lifting
and car-snatching in the provincial metropolis.
The police contingents have been deputed at these pickets
to frisk the people and check the vehicles, especially two-wheelers.
According to the police sources, these 'directions' have
been issued by the high-ups of the law-enforcement agency.
The police pickets have been set up on almost all the roads
of the City as well as posh areas entry points.
According to the police sources, the high-ups have strictly
directed the concerned police stations to set up such pickets
in their areas so that the criminals could be nabbed and
the crime rate could be reduced.
The pickets have been set up at the Muslim Town More, Multan
Road, Chuburji, Inside Bhatti Gate, Mall road, Farozepur
Road, Jail Road and entry points leading to Gulberg, Defence,
Faisal Town, Township, Iqbal Town, Model Town areas and
others.
Interestingly, the police officials deputed at these pickets
are found checking only the two-wheelers. The sources maintained
that the police officials have been directed not to stop
any luxury vehicle at the pickets.
It may be noted that some citizens have complained that
these pickets are a source of irritation as they have to
stop at six to seven points during the same journey for
body checking.
However, according to the police spokesman, these pickets
have been set up to maintain strict vigil.
