The United States has been
playing about, from time to time, with the term terrorism,
according to its convenience and expediency. It has never
followed the same yardstick in identifying terrorism.
It has moved from its mindset of "the bad son of
the witch" which Allande was to the good son of witch
Pinochet.
Israel is the only state in the world which came into
existence through terrorism and a number of those who
organized and led terrorism became its most celebrated
Prime Ministers and were held in high esteem by the US.
Menacham Begin who was one of the leaders of Irgun terrorism
organization and who had gone into hiding - became the
Prime Minister of Israel.
It was this terrorist organization Irgun which blew up
the King David hotel in Jerusalem which then housed the
British Palestine command. Yithzak Rabine who headed the
Haggnah terrorist organization also became the Prime Minister
of Israel. The present Israeli Prime Minister Sharon,
the butcher of Beirut was also one of the leaders of a
terrorist organization and is now so close to President
Bush. Describing the wickedness and awesome cruelty on
the crushed and humiliated people, writes Noam Chomsky
the American dissident and thinker:
"This is not a war of democracy vs terror, it is
also about American missiles smashing into Palestinian
homes and US helicopters firing missiles into Lebanese
ambulance in 1996, and American shells crashing into a
village called Qana, about a Lebanese militia paid and
uniformed by the American Israeli ally hacking and raping
and murdering their way through refugee camp".
Speaking at a seminar in New Delhi Chomsky reserved its
strongest condemnation of the "biggest rogue state"
for the USA, which he dubbed as the practitioner of international
terrorism.
"The International Court of Justice at the Hague",
he further pointed out, "had condemned only one country
for international terrorism and that country was the US".
In reply to President Bush asking the countries whether
they were with the US or with terrorist, Chomsky said
that there is very little to choose between the international
terrorist that the US is and those others who are so blamed.
Former President Bill Clinton disclosed that he had ordered
the assassination of Osama. This one very fact disqualifies
the US to hold investigation or trial of Osama. Former
President Bush (Senior) is on record to have asked the
Iraqi armed forces to overthrow Saddam, one of the US
well equipped naval ship downed a commercial Iranian airplane
killing about 300 innocent men, women and children.
The CIA has once again been empowered to carry out assassinations.
The US bombed Libya without declaring war, targeting Qaddafi
and killing his minor child, which was condemned by all
the members of the Security Council except the UK and
France. It bombed a pharmaceutical plant in Khartoum on
the pretext that chemical weapons were produced there
but later it was conceded by the US that it had acted
on wrong information.
It has been bombing Iraq day in and day out on the pretext
of enforcing the no fly zones, without any authorization
from the Security Council. It attacked Afghanistan with
missiles, violating the airspace of Pakistan again without
any authorization from the Security Council. It launched
the other day a military campaign against Afghanistan
targeting indiscriminately the civilian population and
civic facilities. It also took part in the massacre of
hundreds of the war prisoners in Qila Jhanginear Mazar-i-Sharif.
What are all these if not acts of terrorism?
Now coming to more brazen faced and heinous forms of terrorism
which was planned to be perpetrated by the US military
which perhaps would put the suicide bombing of WTC to
shame. James Bamford in his "Body of Secrets"
published in the year 2001 (The Random House Group United
20, Vauxhall Road London, SW IV, UK) has these most earth-shaking
revelations to make.
Following the failed Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba in 1961,
the US Joint Chief of Staff (JCS) drew up and approved
plans for launching a secret and bloody war of terrorism
against their own country in order to trick the American
public opinion into supporting an ill-conceived war they
intended to launch against Cuba, code named Northwoods.
The plan called for innocent people to be shot on American
streets, boats carrying refugees to be sunk on the high
seas. A wave of violence and terrorism was to be launched
in Washington DC, Miami and elsewhere. People would be
framed for bombing they did not commit; planes would be
hijacked.
Using phony evidence, all of it would be blamed on Castro,
thus providing Lemintzer (The chairman of JCS) and his
cabal, the excuse, as well as public and international
backing they needed to launch the war. In 1963 the JCS
proposed secret US attacks on Jamaica and Trinidad-Tobago.
Both were members of the British Commonwealth. Thus by
secretly attacking them and then falsely blaming Cuba,
the United States could lure England into war against
Cuba but all these plans were finally turned down by President
Kennedy.
Chomsky traces the American obsession with violence to
achieve political goals as far back as in 1818 when John
Quincy Adams hailed the salutary efficiency of "terror
in dealing with the mingled hordes of lawless Indian and
Negros".
The US troops wiped out some 5000 people in Panama, El
Chorillo on the excuse of hounding out Noriega because
the folks there were nationalists and wanted the US out
of Panama. The CIA entered into a conspiracy with General
Suharto for the overthrow of Indonesian President Seokarno,
who had fought the Japanese in World War II, and liberated
Indonesia when General Suharto had collaborated with the
Japanese. As was arranged, Suharto immediately after replacing
Seokarno, embarked upon the genocide of at lest half a
million people.
The US supported Pol Pot by supplying arms and money to
butcher another million people.
The US government also arranged for the murder of Congo's
only decent leader to be replaced by General Mobuto, a
greedy, vicious murdering dictator.
In Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala US backed terrorists
committed massacres. In the meantime, democracy free trade
was abused by the US for the advancement of its aggressive
policies in different parts of the world.
John Kerry, a presidential candidate, in the last presidential
election soon after being released from the Vietnam war,
he testified before one of the Senate committees that
the US forces in Vietnam went amok, indulged not only
in large scale murder and rape but they also destroyed
villages after villages "much in the fashion of Ganges
Khan".
Perhaps it was Noam Chomsky who so rightly pointed out
"No war will stop terrorism as long as we use terrorism
to have our way. Why so many people in the world are ready
to die is to give us a taste of what we give them".
Yasser Arafat, so long he was fighting for the liberation
of Palestine was the most hated terrorists but as soon
as he capitulated, was honored with Nobel Peace prize
and became one of the darlings of the White House.
The moment he showed some guts at the Camp David and refused
to be dictated by the US and Israel combined, he was demonized
as the villain. He once again capitulated and cracked
down on the Hammas and Islamic Jihad giving rise to exchange
of fire between the security forces of the Palestinian
Authority and the Mujahideen without endearing himself
to the US.
In an interview with General Ouze Merham, in 1956, Sharon
said: "I don't know something called international
principles. I vow that I'll burn every Palestinian woman
and child who are more dangerous than the man, because
the Palestinian child's existence infers that the generations
will go on ...
I vow that if I was just an Israeli civilian and I met
a Palestinian I would burn him and would make him suffer
before killing him. With one hit I have killed 750 Palestinians
(in Rafah in 1956). I wanted to encourage my soldiers
to rape Arab girls as a Palestinian woman is a slave for
Jews and we do whatever we want to do her ..."
Sharon at present the darling of the White House is the
greatest rogue cum terrorist going on this planet who
has corroded the breast of humanity like not even a beast
has ever done and this he has with great pride and pomp
boasted about. Those Muslim rulers who are competing with
one another in collaborating with the United States are
in fact fattening the most pernicious dragon of terrorism,
which threatens the very existence of this planet.
